ABOUT YAW MANTE

I paint in acrylic on canvas. I like to use bold colours in my paintings - something which hearkens back to the days I experimented with paper collage.



 

I like several artists but Miro comes to mind now. His abstract paintings are accessible and he uses bold primary colours in beautiful ways. I also recently discovered Ablade Glover. I like the way he uses colour to create texture and rhythm in his paintings.

When painting, I focus on enjoying the process itself. But my goal is to express or share an idea, a feeling, a spark; the observer's reaction is always a welcome bonus.
